Releasing What’s Not Ours

Healing Food & Body Struggles Through IFS

Course Summary

That fear of not being enough. The compulsion to finish your plate. The belief that your worth is tied to your body, your productivity, your silence. Some of what you carry was never yours to begin with — it was handed down, absorbed, or demanded by the culture around you.

This three-part IFS workshop series gives you a structured, felt-sense way to find those inherited burdens, understand why your parts are still holding onto them, and — when you're ready — begin to let them go.  No prior IFS experience needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to listen inward.

What’s Included:

📺 Introductory video on IFS and burdens
🎥 3 x 60-minute live sessions (recorded for replay if you can’t join live)
📂 Downloadable slides with journaling prompts
🤝 Community support and optional sharing
🖋 Guided practices and reflection exercises

What you'll walk away with:

🌟 A working understanding of Internal Family Systems — parts, exiles, protectors, and Self

🌟 Language and tools to identify which of your struggles are actually legacy or cultural burdens, not "just you"

🌟 A clear map of how burdens pass down through families and culture — including the science of intergenerational transmission and epigenetics

🌟 Real practice unblending from parts that carry shame, fear, or scarcity

🌟 A felt experience of what it's like to release even a small drop of something you've carried for years

Inside the series:

INTRO — Internal Family Systems: Basic Concepts Start here. Learn the foundational IFS map: parts, Self, protectors (managers and firefighters), and exiles. You'll leave with the 8 Cs of Self and your first practice in noticing trailheads — the everyday moments where a part steps forward.

Session 1 — What Are Legacy and Cultural Burdens Go deeper into where your heaviest beliefs actually came from. Explore the difference between legacy burdens (inherited from family) and cultural burdens (absorbed from the dominant culture), the common statements that signal a burden isn't fully yours, and how to start distinguishing your story from your symptoms.

Session 2 — Exploring the Nature and Impact of Family and Cultural Messages Trace the real cost: shame, secrecy, polarized parts, loss of self-connection, and the anxiety or compulsions that show up in parts who were never allowed to be themselves. Includes a grounded look at epigenetics and intergenerational trauma, and a guided reflection on the burdens you may be ready to release — and the ones that still feel too risky to put down.

Session 3 — Collective Unburdening The culmination. A guided practice to choose a part, name its burden, and explore releasing it — whether that's a fear of scarcity, an inherited ideal about your body, or an ancestor's unspoken worry. This session closes with ritual, reflection, and space to make the work your own.

Who this is for?

This series is for you if:
🌟You've done "the work" but certain patterns still feel stuck, cellular, unshiftable
🌟Your reaction to something doesn't match your own life story ("I've always had this," "my family has this too")
🌟You carry shame or rigid rules around food, body, worth, or emotion that trace back further than your own experience
🌟You're ready to explore healing not just for yourself, but for the whole lineage carrying the burden with you
